With the growing popularity of American Football in the UK has come an increase in people showing an interest in taking up playing the sport. If you are interested in playing America's most popular sport here in the UK, the Cambridgeshire Cats are always looking for new players interested in joining the team.
So, whether you are a complete novice or a seasoned player having gained experience with another team, we welcome and can accommodate new players of all levels.
If you are a beginner and have no prior experience of playing the game, don't worry as we have a team of vastly experienced coaches who will teach you all you need to know and help you grow as a player. Equally, if you are an experienced player looking for a new team or looking to get back in the game, our coaches can help you develop and improve your skills further..
The Cambridgeshire Cats hold training sessions every Sunday throughout the year from January to August from 10.30am until 13.30pm at Coldham's Common, Cambridge. If you wish to join in our training session and experience American football, you will need to be at the grounds by 10.30am at the latest and bring the following with you:
- Plenty of water
- Appropriate sportswear
- Football boots or similar shoes with non-metal cleats.
If you do not already have your own kit, we have the necessary protective kit which can be signed out to you for the training session and must be returned when the session finishes. If you do not have a specific playing position in mind, don't worry as our coaches are more than happy to assess you and see which position you will be best suited to.
After experiencing the training session your taster of American Football with the Cats, if you would like to join the team you will need to speak to the either one of the coaches or the General Manager or email us through the 'Contact us' link above and we will help you get registered as a player with the British American Football National Leagues.
To be part of the Cats, you will need to pay a subscription to the team either by means of a one-off payment or by setting up a standing order payment each month. We will advise you on the amount payable. there will also be a player registration fee payable to BAFANL.
