As if the season hasn’t been exciting enough, this weekend will again put the Cats Fans and players through the ringer. 

Coach Shaws troops this week make the short journey to cross county rivals Peterborough Saxons with a view to continuing their impressive start to the 2009 season. 

Cats new look defensive coaching team

Last season saw the Cats start their campaign against the Saxons and in a hard fought defensive encounter saw the Cats emerge victorious in a 7-6 win.

Defensive Co-Ordinator on that day Sean Gray has since departed the Cats to take his hard nose defensive playbook to the Saxons in a off season switch that saw both man mountain Defensive Tackle Sam Nti and Saftey Tim Johnson both follow the Ex PA Knight to the Stanground based Saxons.

The Cats replaced Gray with one of his Cats Defensive Stalwarts Ray Palmer and he will be looking to build on the shutout at Norwich last week to keep alive the Cats chase of the Kent Exiles and London Cobras at the Top of BAFL 1 South East.

Recovering from a minor shoulder injury Cats off season signing Matt Henderson and 2nd year DE Neil Prothero (off the back of an MVP performance at Norwich despite a dislocated thumb) will be looking to provide the pressure on Saxons QB Ed Helton in what looks set to be a battle in the skies as both teams will look to air the ball out on Offence.

Tommy Durkin preparing to throw another TD

Cats QB Tommy Durkin who celebrated his 26th birthday midweek will hope its business as usual against the Saxons, in the second of last seasons matchups Tommy had just under 300yds total offense with 3TD passes in a 20-0 victory, but with fellow USAF colleague Tim Johnson in the secondary it could prove a challenge.

Game 6 of the Cats 2009 season takes place at Stanground College in Peterboroughon Sunday, 2:30pm.
